About

About me & What I Do

I have looked after the Insurance risks for clients in Central Queensland and around Australia for over 20 years.

Insurance can be complicated. When it's your livelihood or asset on the line, you want to make sure that the decisions you make are based on good advice, not just hoping for the best.

As your Broker, I am here to work with you to manage your Insurance risk, to represent 'your' interests to Insurers, and to provide you with options to protect your business or your asset.

This means gaining an understanding of your needs, and reviewing policies and strategies that will benefit you and your situation.  Finally to provide you with solutions so that you can make an informed decision.

Should an incident occur, I am there to guide you through the claims process and to ensure
that it is handled quickly and efficiently, so as to help minimise the impact on your business.

In 2021 it was my desire to better look after the interests of those I represent by starting my own Broker business in partnership with Community Broker Network (CBN).

CBN are part of the Steadfast Group, one of the largest Broker organizations in Australia and New Zealand.  With access to some of the broadest range of insurance markets and strategic relationships, CBN have the connections for me to be able to work in your best interest, to ensure that you get the best insurance outcome.

How I Can Help You

Your Duty of Disclosure

"It might seem common sense but you help yourself by telling your Insurer anything that you know, or could reasonably be expected to know, that may affect that Insurer's decision to insurer you and on what terms."

If you receive 'General Advice', then you do not need to tell the insurer anything that:  reduces the risk they insure for you; or is common knowledge;  or the Insurer knows, or should know; or the insurer waives your duty to tell them about.

Where you receive Tailored or Personal Advice, your Duty is to not make a misrepresentation - You have a duty under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (ICA) to take reasonable care not to make a misrepresentation to the insurer (your duty).

Your duty applies only in respect of a policy that is a consumer insurance contract, which is a term defined in the ICA. Your duty applies before you enter into the policy, and also before you renew, extend, vary, or reinstate the policy.  Before you do any of these things, you may be required to answer questions and the insurer will use the answers you provide in deciding whether to insure you, and anyone else to be insured under the policy, and on what terms. To ensure you meet your duty, your answers to the questions must be truthful, accurate and complete. If you fail to meet your duty, the insurer may be able to cancel your contract or reduce the amount it will pay if you make a claim or both.

If your failure is fraudulent, the insurer may be able to refuse to pay a claim and treat the contract as if it never existed.
